HAIR REMOVAL

Our new age technology offers innovative and safe lasting hair reduction results. Using this technology, the hair reduction is achieved when the energy is transformed to heat in the active growth follicles, coagulating that follicle and limiting growth.

Main Benefits:
*Permanent results can be achieved
*Treatments are non-invasive, reliable, and relatively painless
*Precise, flexible, and safe treatments

The laser creates a beam of highly concentrated light that penetrates into the skin where it delivers a controlled amount of therapeutic heat. This light energy is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to destroy numerous follicles at a time leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.

Our system further protects your skin during treatment with dynamic cooling technology the cools the upper layers of the skin. This provides and increased level of comfort and protection!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

With the growing popularity of laser hair removal, there is also a growing number of questions that people have regarding the treatment. These are certainly not limited to the amount of questions you may have.  It’s common to feel concerned about any type of procedure that involves your body.  Please bring along your additional questions to your consultation as we review these ones and any others you may have.  Your comfort is our goal and we will take every measure to ensure you know exactly what to expect.

  1. Is it Permanent? Lasers will permanently reduce the amount of hair growth. Some areas of the body will experience permanent removal of hair while other areas may need some maintenance from time to time due to new follicle development from hormonal changes or shifts in weight. After each visit, hair growth will be further reduced and you will require fewer sessions.

  2. Is Hair Removal Safe? Yes, the procedure is safe when performed by skilled professionals and with the proper equipment. The laser emits light energy that specifically targets the hair follicle. It eliminates the hair while the surrounding skin remains unharmed. At Revitalize we use Sharplight Technology, a Canadian-based company.  Laser hair removal is a lunch time procedure. There is no recovery time. Patients can return to work immediately. These lasers do not remove skin, so the risks are very low. As with any procedure, we have an informed consent that explains all the possible risks. The biggest risk with using lasers is eye damage, which is why you (& your technician) will be mandated to wear specific eyewear for when the laser is being applied.  Therefore, no other unauthorized person may be present during your session.

  3. Does it Hurt? The most common sensation felt during the procedure is a small pinch. The feeling only lasts seconds and generally stops when the laser does. Thanks to advancements in technology, our equipment applies a cooling sensation on your skin to minimize discomfort. While your skin may be a little red and puffy after the procedure, you shouldn’t feel any pain in the area by the time you leave the office.

  4. How long does it take? The actual procedure time depends on the area being treated. Each hair follicle is zapped in a millisecond, an upper lip can take 30 seconds, underarms can take 15 minutes, while a larger area, such as the legs, might take thirty minutes.

  5. How many treatments will I require? The number of treatments you will require depends on area to be treated. Legs, bikini, under-arms could take 6 treatments. Other more hormonal areas, such as face and back, could require 8 treatments. They are usually spaced 4 weeks apart to effectively reduce hair growth.

  6. How much does Laser Hair removal cost? The cost of laser hair removal is largely dependent on the size of the area to be treated. Larger areas of the body are more costly than smaller areas because they require more time and pulses to treat. The price is also affected by the number of sessions required to achieve the desired results. Certain areas on the body may take more treatments than others, as they may be more affected by hormonal changes. Laser hair removal might seem like a big expense up front, but when you think of the money you’ll save on razors, hair removal cream and waxing, it’s actually a lot more affordable than you would think. Also, you’ll save time and get longer-lasting results, so you’ll be ready to ditch the razor and forget about waxing for good! Revitalize offers single sessions, 3 package deals (saving of 20% each session), and a 6 package deal (savings of 30% each session).  This is to respect the diversity of budgets, affordability while obtaining excellent service delivery to our clientele.

  7. Does Laser Hair removal work for everyone? The best results for laser hair removal involves hair with pigment. Light blond and grey hair are difficult to treat. This is because the laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle. If your hair is light in colour, it will be more difficult for the laser to detect the pigment and effectively disable the hair follicle. Laser Hair Removal procedures certainly have limitations for some folks that would not be eligible: If you are pregnant or breast feeding, if you have past/previous skin cancer,

  8. What areas can be treated with Laser Hair Removal? Any area of the body can be treated. The most popular areas that clients seek treatment for are the legs, bikini, under-arms, backs and face.  The only places that must be avoided are around the eyes, upper cheeks, temples, and ears.

  9. How should I prepare for Laser Hair Removal? The most important thing to do before your first treatment is to start 4 weeks beforehand.  They include: discontinue waxing or plucking (this does not provide a hair follicle for the laser)- SHAVING is encouraged, discontinue tanning beds and/or self tanners (the melanin in the skin acts as pigment). Post Care:  you will want to make sure you are applying sunscreen throughout the course of the treatments to avoid any hypersensitivity to your skin. Unlike waxing services, you are requested to arrive at your appointment shaved prior.  If not we will need to ensure this is done before start of the session.

  10. What is the age for Laser Hair Removal? Within our business we follow the Nova Scotia legal age of 19, therefore, you may consent to hair removal treatments at the age of 19 and above. Parental Consent is required for youth 16-18 years of age.  Due to on-going hormonal fluctuations during teens we do not provide services under 16 years of age.
